Balsam Bashing

SusWoT has organised 5 consecutive nights of clearing Himalayan Balsam from the banks of the Trym. Three nights in and more than 20 volunteers have pulled out a huge number of plants from the Blaise Estate. Still plenty left though.

Himalayan Balsam is an invasive species, spreading rapidly around riverbanks and smothering other vegetation. The Balsam is flowering now and we need to remove it before it sets seed.

Most of the plants are a few feet tall and easy to pull up. Not all though!
